The development of St. Michael’s College Sports Facilities created a comprehensive new sporting environment for the school, bringing together a dedicated changing facilities building, athletics track and 3G playing pitch within a coordinated landscape setting. The project was planned to provide clear and efficient connections between the school, changing accommodation and outdoor sports areas. The changing facilities were designed as a robust and practical building, providing the supporting spaces required for daily training, physical education and competitive sport. The new running track and 3G pitch significantly expand the range and quality of sporting provision available on the campus. Their layout was carefully integrated into the existing site, responding to levels, access and the surrounding landscape while creating a strong relationship between the different sporting areas. Landscape and site infrastructure form an important part of the overall scheme, allowing the facilities to sit comfortably within their setting while supporting safe and intuitive movement across the campus. The completed project provides St. Michael’s College with a durable and flexible sporting environment capable of supporting both school and wider sporting activity for years to come.
